Dr. Shiva Kumara S U is a Library and Information Science (LIS) professional with 14+ years of experience in academic library management, research, and digital transformation. He currently serves as Librarian at BMS College of Architecture, Design and Planning, Bengaluru, where he leads initiatives in library automation, digital libraries, and research support services.

He has successfully implemented technology-driven solutions such as Koha, DSpace, and Calibre, significantly enhancing information access, operational efficiency, and institutional research visibility—a strong advocate of open access, institutional repositories, and e-learning integration.

Dr. Shiva Kumara possesses strong technical and research competencies, including advanced SPSS for data analysis, Mendeley for reference management, and VOSviewer for bibliometric mapping and visualisation of scientific literature. He holds a PhD in Library and Information Science from Tumkur University, with research focusing on academic publishing practices among LIS professionals. His academic credentials also include an M.Sc. in LIS from Kuvempu University, along with PGDLAN and PGDJMC, and certifications in Scopus, Web of Science, and other scholarly research tools.

An active researcher, he has published 45 research papers in reputable national and international journals, including Q1 and Scopus-indexed publications, and has received the Best Research Paper Award. He has also contributed to an ICSSR-funded Major Research Project at Tumkur University, gaining extensive experience in research documentation and data management.

Dr. Shiva Kumara is a life member of professional bodies such as LIS Academy and KALA, and has organised workshops, delivered invited lectures, and mentored LIS professionals in research methodology, bibliometrics, and library automation.
